Life, Liberty and Security!

Universal Declaration of Human Rights

Article3
Everyone has the right to life, liberty and security of person.

Life, Liberty and Security!

The gift of life to each individual self-understandably implies a demand to exist and live a life free of danger and uncertainty.
Respect for the right to life represents the basis of the human civilization and its protection is absolute and unconditional. Constitutions of states across the world recognize this right and all civilized nations offer protection of the right to life within their legislations, recognizing human life as highest value in the society. Death penalty is abolished in most of the democratic countries, and threat against someone else’s life is considered a major criminal offense.
The right to life in its essence includes two dimensions: the right of self-preservation and freedom to organize one’s life, but also prohibits endangering someone else’s life. The privilege to be human is to enjoy this right includes responsibility for one’s and the lives of the others.
Weapons, violence, and hate speech are main causes that undermine the value of human life and dignity, and this right. Today, on the occasion of the Article 3 of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights, we appeal for restraint from hate speech and violence. Further, we appeal to institutions to obtain stricter arms control.
Let this month be a month of celebration of life, freedom and security of each person! Let these days be days of remembrance of the fact that we are all humans, equally free and valuable, all gifted with rights to enjoy life, free and safe!

UNDERSTANDING OF FREEDOM

The personal acceptance of definitions and uncompromising commitment for their application, according to me, is the essential characteristic and quality of the human. Understanding of and eagerness for freedom implies giving up conformism and opportunism.
I understand and accept the definition of freedom that derives from the Universal Declaration of Human Rights, and other international documents such as the Convention for the Protection of Human Rights and Fundamental Freedoms. Those are not abstract readings on library shelves; they are real and definite articles that apply to me and every fellow citizen of mine in the world.
Freedom is a general state of ultimate respect for human rights and freedoms of each individual, group or community in the world. The system of governing is entirely subordinated to the needs, interests and desires of individuals, groups and communities in the society of free people. It is a world based on solidarity and mutual respect between all humans. Freedom from fear of any kind is imminent. Wellbeing of every human being is the task of the free society and it needs to be achieved by all means on any societal and governmental levels.
